Men and Women Run 3rd Points Meet The Western State College Mountaineer men and women held a pivotal time trial on Thursday – their third points meet of the year to determine the top 9 runners for the RMAC conference meet and the top 7 for the Regional and NCAA Championships. The 1st points meet was the August 26th time trial and the second was the Rocky Mountain Shootout in Boulder on September 30th. The Mountaineers women ran 4.5 miles slightly uphill gaining 800 feet at McCabe’s Lane west of Gunnison. The men ran 6 miles uphill on the same course. The Western State women were led by Esther Komen. Komen’s time was 34:01 and she was followed be Anne Ronoh, Jenny Hockman, Elsa Goshu, Agnes Kroneraff, Jann Johnson, Natalie Provost, Lisa Thomas, Shannon Filar and Rachel harper in the top 10. The Western State men were led by sophomore Aaron Clark who ran the 6 miles in 36:54. Clark was followed by Kim Hogarth, Aaron Flower, Jason Graham, Scott Dahlburg, redshirt runner John Butkey, Cole Murch, Andrew Hoffman, Tyler Rasmussen, and Tyler Pennel in the top 10. Both men and women started their time trials at 7650’ in elevation. The woman finished at 8300’ and the men at 8400’. The Mountaineer men and women will compete at the Rocky mountain Athletic Conference Championships held in Pueblo this Saturday. The women’s 6000 will be run at 9:30 and the men’s 8000 will be run at 10:15.
